Update: Thank you to Natrel and their generous customers for supporting Make-A-Wish during the 2017 holiday season. The Natrel Taste the Joy of Giving campaign raised $25,000 to help grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses across Canada.

 

A Wish Family Gives Back

Kimberly is a Registered Nurse and a mother of two. When her daughter, Mackenzie, was four years old, she was diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), a disease of the bile ducts. This condition eventually lead to liver failure, requiring her to have a liver transplant in 2007. Just one year after her transplant, Mackenzie’s wish to go to a theme park in Florida was granted by Make-A-Wish.

In honour of her 70th birthday in 2015, Jan participated in our national signature fundraising event, Rope for Hope, in Toronto.

Jan has been a longtime volunteer and supporter of Make-A-Wish. In 2017, she gave a gift of stock to Make-A-Wish and she hopes her story will inspire others to donate to help grant life-changing wishes to more children with critical illnesses.

Karen chose to donate to Make-A-Wish in honour of her former student, Nikolas, who had his wish granted when he was nine years old. In 2004, without warning, Nik suffered two strokes which severely impacted his health. When his family found out he was eligible for a wish, they were excited that Nik would have a special experience after a very difficult time. Nik wished to stay in a castle with a bowling alley and swimming pool (his two favourite activities). Make-A-Wish granted his wish in 2005 and gave him a family vacation at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.
