Jillian's Hollywood adventure makes her feel like a star

Jillian is a thoughtful teenager with a big heart. Her favourite activities are playing ringette, practicing the piano and saxophone, and reading and writing. Jillian has a full life with a loving family, but her rare metabolic disorder has made life very challenging. She deals with extreme exhaustion, difficulty eating and digesting food and she must follow a special diet and take medication daily to prevent serious complications from her illness.

Her condition is life-threatening, making the future uncertain, but Jillian is resilient and determined to live big and have fun. Jillian’s most heartfelt wish was to go horseback riding to the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles, California, an adventure she’d been dreaming of for a long time.

When her wish day arrived, Jillian was whisked off to the airport in true celebrity-style in a white stretch limousine. She was greeted by the WestJet staff aboard her flight and given the opportunity to sit in the cockpit and meet the pilot.

In Los Angeles, Jillian and her family stayed at a beautiful hotel by Hollywood Blvd - in the center of all the action. Her wish was realized when their family joined their guide from Sunset Ranch Hollywood for a scenic horseback riding tour through the hills of Griffith Park. From the park they had an incredible view of the famous Hollywood sign, Griffith Observatory and Downtown Los Angeles.

During her time in L.A., Jillian also visited Universal Studios Hollywood, Madame Tussauds of Hollywood and went on a celebrity home tour to check out the luxurious homes of the rich and famous in the Hollywood Hills.

“This trip was absolutely amazing. We felt like royalty. Thank you so much for this amazing opportunity. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” says Joanne, Jillian’s mom.

When a wish is granted, it does much more than bring joy to a child’s heart. For kids like Jillian, who are faced with critical illnesses, a wish-come-true provides them with strength to battle through darkness and gives them hope for healthier, happier days ahead.
